2024 Summer Exams

GCSE Results Day – 22nd August 2024

School will be open from 9.00 am until 11.00 am on Thursday 22nd August and results will be issued by form group in the atrium.  Results can also be collected from reception at any point up until 15:00.  For anyone unable to come into school, results will also be uploaded to Edulink and will be available to view in the afternoon.

If you are unable to collect your results in person on the day but would like someone else to collect them, please give them a written letter or email our Exams Officer, Mrs Slater at contact@stbedesblackburn.com,  indicating the name of the person who will be collecting your results, their relationship to you and stating that you give them permission to collect your results.  Without this we will not be able to release your results. Please include your name and address in the email and a member of staff may contact you to verify this email.  The person collecting your results will need to bring photo ID with them such as a driving licence or passport, unless they are a student at the school. Please note we will not be able to send your results in the post or via email.

GCSE RESULTS GUIDANCE 2024

JCQ, Ofqual and the awarding bodies provide lots of useful information for pupils and parents about examinations, results and post-results services.

The awarding bodies have pages specifically about results for pupils/parents:

GCSE POST RESULTS SERVICES SUMMER 2024

If you have any queries or questions or are concerned at all about your results or your next steps when you receive them, please speak to Mrs Ferguson (Deputy Headteacher) or Mrs Donlan (Head of Year 11) who will be available on results day.  You can also email Mrs Slater any time after you receive your results.

JCQ has published a useful infographic to help you decide what to do after receiving your results if you are not happy with them.

The awarding bodies offer a number of post-results services, which include

  1. Clerical Re-check (AQA deadline 26th September)
  2. Review of Marking (AQA deadline 26th September)
  3. Priority access to scripts (AQA Deadline 5th September)

In the school’s experience, it is unusual for marks to change upwards by more than a marginal amount and you must be aware that marks/grades may not change at all or may even be lowered.  However, the school reviews the marks that you and others have achieved and will advise candidates if we feel there is an anomaly and that a paper should be reviewed.  You are required to complete a form giving your permission in order to ensure you understand that grades may go down as well as up or not change at all.

Full details of the services provided are given in the JCQ Post Results Services document.
